Cotton Bay / Sal Island

Sal Island

Sal Island, the true gateway to the archipelago of Cape Verde, boasts an international airport (the well-known “Amílcar Cabral”), which has made it the main tourist destination of the archipelago. Its name is due to its particular geological conformation rich in salt, which over past centuries represented the main economic resource of the island. Today, spending a vacation in Cape Verde and, in particular, visiting Sal Island means above all enjoying long stretches of fine sandy shore along an inviting, crystalline, emerald sea.

This spectacular landscape of Sal Island is born of the suggestive contrast between the volcanic nature of the island and the turquoise blue of the ocean: the most beautiful spots of this island exploit this stark contrast, like Santa Maria, the area of the ancient saltpans that offer marvellous stretches of beaches and sea as its main attraction.

It is precisely this fantastic scenario that favoured the ambitious project of “Cotton Bay” on Sal Island, which aims at enhancing this spectacular nature and all its potential by importing numerous varieties of flowers and tropical plants to enrich the dreamy gardens of the future real estate complex. In this way it will be possible to enjoy visions of vermilion bougainvillea, robust cacti, and small tropical palmettes, together with the famous red hibiscus, symbol of Cape Verde itself. The volcanic hermitage will fill with new scents and sensations to inebriate the guests who intend to spend their vacation on Sal Island to discover a secluded and dizzying sea and fabulous vegetation.
